He is also an educator with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/p-nap.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prison + Neighborhood Arts\/Education Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (P+NAP) where he and his colleagues <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/werdmvmntstudios.com\/home.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">William Estrada<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insecurespaces.net\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sarah Ross<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have taught printmaking to people incarcerated at Stateville Prison.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During this virtual talk, these three artists will discuss both the power of printmaking for individuals in prison, and the limitations of art education within the larger prison system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will also present P+NAP\u2019s newest publication, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hatandbeard.com\/products\/carving-out-rights-from-inside-the-prison-industrial-complex\"><b><i>Carving Out Rights from Inside the Prison Industrial Complex<\/i><\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hatandbeard.com\/products\/carving-out-rights-from-inside-the-prison-industrial-complex\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hat & Beard Press<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). The book features 30 brilliantly crafted foam block prints\u2014 one for each article in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights\u2014 made by artists at Stateville Prison whose daily struggle for their own human rights is even more pronounced during a global pandemic in which they are denied basic PPE, healthcare, and safety.
